When and where to enjoy them in Houston

Truffles are one of the most delicate and exquisite ingredients in the culinary world, which is why they´re known as the diamonds of the kitchen. Today I share with you everything you need to know about this delicacy from nature and will also tell you all about one of the most important gastronomic events in Houston that use truffles as their star ingredient; The Truffle Masters 2020.

What is a truffle?

A truffle is a round mushroom with a strong but very pleasant aroma. There are many types of truffles, but the most common ones used in the kitchen are the white and black truffles, which by the way, have nothing to do with chocolate truffles.

Why are they so expensive?

Truffles grow from the roots of trees such as oak and hazel in southern Italy and France. Finding them is a very difficult task since you need specially trained dogs to achieve it. There are so scarce and so difficult to harvest that their price tag can be exhorbitant.

However, once you get them and use them correctly, they can elevate any dish and make it extraordinary. That's why truffles are in such high demand amongst chefs, restaurants, and foodies around the world.

Where to get them in Houston?
