Beyond the Summit: Conversations That Can Save Lives

One of the highlights of my year has been collaborating with an organization many of you already know because you’ve heard me talk about it often: Responsibility.org

This year felt especially meaningful because I had the opportunity to experience it alongside Tess Rowland, a survivor of a car crash caused by someone driving under the influence of alcohol. After multiple surgeries and a long, difficult recovery, Tess chose to turn one of the hardest moments of her life into a mission: raising awareness about how a single decision can change everything forever.

During April, recognized as Alcohol Responsibility Month, we traveled to Washington, D.C. with one very clear mission: to support keeping the STOP Act fully funded for the 2027 budget.

And while we often hear terms like “public policy” and think they feel distant, the reality is that this goes far beyond that. We’re talking about research, statistics, educational programs, and national campaigns that actively help prevent underage drinking. And if this funding is lost, we could take steps backward on so much of the progress already made in communication, education, and awareness around this incredibly important issue.

I had the opportunity to walk through Capitol Hill alongside Tess and also with Kelly Poulsen, who leads government relations efforts focused on protecting young lives. Together, we experienced meaningful meetings, including an important conversation with Lizzie Fletcher representing Houston.

But one of the biggest things I took away from this experience is that these conversations don’t happen out of nowhere. Before stepping into those meetings, we spent a full day learning from experts, hearing real data, and listening to human stories that all pointed to one simple but powerful message: if you choose to drink alcohol, do it responsibly, and alcohol should never be served to minors.

As a content creator, I’ve always believed our platforms can also create space for conversations that truly matter. And this summit left me with so much knowledge that I want to continue sharing with all of you throughout the year. So get ready, because I’ll be creating articles, content, and conversations around responsibility, prevention, safety, and everything I learned through this experience.

Thank you to Responsibility.org for including me once again in initiatives that create real impact and for opening spaces where human stories can help raise awareness.

And thank you to all of you for always being here, reading, learning, and growing with me. Because at the end of the day, creating memorable experiences also means taking care of one another.
